The Biodiversity Lab at Florida International University is dedicated to the study and conservation of the world's biological diversity, in all its varied forms. Our specific interests are wide-ranging, but the overall focus is improving the chances of a healthy, diverse planet for the future. Much of the research and other activities fall into three main areas: Global biodiversity patterns and priority conservation areas, the Amazon and its future, and the varied ecosystems and environmental challenges of Brazil, which includes far more than the Amazonian portion of the country. More about these topics can be found on the Research page.
